The Library
The library at the IHC is free and open to the public. It is housed in a former classroom
on the second floor of the Center. The library can be reached via the elevator.
Join us to find your next novel, take in some armchair traveling,
or learn more about Irish history and culture at your leisure.
Members of the Irish Heritage Center may checkout materials, and
non-members may browse and use the collections inside the library.
The library’s collection contains books, music CDs, and magazines. All materials are related to Ireland and Irish studies.
Genres include:
The library is also proud to host the Edgar M. Slotkin Collection, kindly donated by his family. These books were collected by University of Cincinnati professor and distinguished scholar of Celtic and folklore studies, Edgar M. Slotkin, Ph.D.
Our dedicated volunteers are continuing the work of cataloging the materials. The catalog will be made available online in the future.
The Irish Heritage Center has partnered with the “Genealogy Detective” to offer one-on-one consultations for research about your family history by special appointment. Members may receive a free genealogy session and personal research service; please contact the IHC for details. Please, note that although we do have some books about genealogy, we do not have any genealogical records in our collection. However, the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library contains a wealth of resources to help with genealogical research, including knowledgeable staff and access to records.
Donations of materials related to Ireland and the Irish diaspora are currently accepted. (Duplicates maybe sold to support the Center.)
Please contact the IHC to arrange a visit or
drop off a donation outside of regular hours.
